transformative research
We are constantly being changed by our environments, our families, and our experiences.
It’s not so much that we’re having profound life-altering changes, but rather that the change itself is so dramatic that it can be difficult for us to understand or appreciate. Transformative research is the process of exploring the mind, body, and spirit—and sometimes the brain—through the lens of change. It’s a process that can be a source of both catharsis and inspiration.
As a student of life, I feel strongly that change is something we can all experience. We all learn at different speeds and it can be difficult to recognize when you’re being changed, but you know what I mean? I also believe that it is important that our lives are always being transformed into something new. That is not to say that we should live lives of boredom or mediocrity.
We are all in the process of becoming something new every day. But this new thing we are becoming is not the same thing as our previous. At the end of the day, the new thing you are being transformed into may not even be the same one you were before. For me, it is a different person, but the same person.
I like the old saying “new things are always bad.” When I was a kid I was taught that the old things should be replaced by new ones. Now I see that a lot of people in my area are in the process of discovering the new thing they are doing, and if they want to learn new things they should do so now. But the fact is that new things are always bad. The old things can be replaced by new ones. And those who were always good are always bad.
This is a very good point. When a new thing hits our environment, we react to it in very predictable ways. For the most part, we tend to want to find a replacement, rather than trying to figure out why a new thing is happening. That’s because we think, our environment can be changed, and if we are trying to change it, it’s going to be difficult. And we are right.
But that’s not always true. For instance, new things can bring us a new set of expectations, new things can change our perception of our surroundings.
What does this have to do with research? Well, a large amount of the research done by researchers and psychologists is about how we respond to different stimuli. So when you look at a new experiment, and try to figure out what happened, you will find that the results will have a big impact on how you think about your life and your relationships. I was having this discussion with a co-worker about how to tell if someone is going to be a good friend or a bad friend.
It is quite common in psychology and philosophy to talk about whether something is transformative based on the person who performs the experiment. I don’t think this is just a matter of the person performing the experiment trying to make it happen, but more about the researcher.
